Hyenas are strange creatures, part cat, part dog. They have a reputation for being crazy killers who only hunt in packs. But one day doing some research on Youtube I saw a video of one that had been raised since a pup and likes cuddles and walks just as much a dog! Working on the sketches that you see here was fun and I tried to keep my style as loose as possible.

In attempting to anthropomorphise (namely - placing human traits or emotions onto animals) this much dreaded beast I quickly began to see them in different light. This is one of the reasons why I love researching new subjects and learning new things through art.

Also I learnt that hyenas live in a social hierarchy and are highly intelligent and social animals with complex behaviours. So not really that far removed from us humans after all. And who in their right mind does'nt want to see a hyena in a kilt right?
